Welcome Back Shorebirds
21st September at GJ Walter Park at Toondah Harbour from 9am - 12pm
We are coming together on this day to celebrate the incredible feat of our migratory shorebirds, and to continue our campaign to protect Toondah Harbour in Moreton Bay QLD.
Only 40 minutes from Brisbane CBD, surrounded by holiday houses, a children’s playground and dog-walking park lies Toondah Harbour - the most important habitat in Australia for shorebirds and the critically endangered Far- Eastern Curlew.
These remarkable birds migrate more than 10,000 km back to Australian coastlines every year after breeding in the Arctic.
Toondah Harbour is a critical area for Eastern Curlews, a place to rest, recuperate and fatten up before it’s time to make the long journey back. But how long will this special site be safe for them?
Community groups are coming together to share their knowledge and love for this important site and these special birds.
We look forward to seeing you.
