BirdLife Australia - Act for Birds

Community Forum, Perth

Date: Tuesday 9th April

Time: 6:00pm for a 6:30 (running until 8:30pm)

Venue: Tamala Room, WA Ecology Centre, Bold Park

Join the BirdLife Australia campaigns team in Perth alongside our local branch for an update on the movement for stronger nature laws to protect our birds and their habitats.

You will hear a compelling local story of love, loss and why we need change, you will also have the opportunity to share your story with like-minded nature lovers.

For over 5 years BirdLife Australia, together with the Places You Love alliance, has been calling for stronger nature laws as documented in our 2018 report Restoring the Balance, and it all comes to a head this year. The Federal Election is just around the corner with two major parties already committed to environmental law reform. Plus, Australia’s key environmental legislation, the EPBC Act 1999 is up for its 20-year review.

2019 is shaping up to be a big year for the environment movement but we have to keep our voices loud and our message strong. That is why BirdLife Australia will be hosting 4 town hall meetings across the country.

Our real power to secure stronger nature laws – and better outcomes for birds - lies in the stories and voices of local bird-lovers from around the country. This series of community meetings will bring together people who care about birds and nature to share their stories and knowledge and to take action.

Attendees will get the chance to hear how the movement is progressing and what we can do, together, to ensure our birds are genuinely protected.

This will be a great opportunity for passionate nature lovers (like you!) to connect with one another, come up with ideas of your own, and take action together for the places and birds you love!

Tea, coffee and snacks provided.
